Tip 02: Stop Listing Responsibilities. Start Selling Results.

One sentence can completely change how a recruiter perceives you.

Consider these two examples:

“Responsible for managing a customer service team.”

Now compare it with:

“Led a 20-member customer service team that improved customer satisfaction from 82% to 94% while reducing response times by 35%.”

Both describe the same job.

Only one demonstrates value.

Recruiters don’t hire responsibilities. They hire people who create results.

Every bullet point on your resume should answer one question:

So what?

Did you increase revenue? Reduce costs? Improve efficiency? Launch a successful product? Build a high-performing team?

Those are the stories employers want to hear.

Whenever possible, quantify your achievements. Numbers make your accomplishments tangible and credible.

Instead of saying you “improved hiring,” explain that you “reduced time-to-hire by 18 days while improving offer acceptance to 91%.”

The strongest resumes don’t simply describe what candidates did.

They demonstrate the impact they had.

Takeaway: Replace duties with achievements. Evidence always beats adjectives.

Next in the series: Why one resume should never be sent to every employer.
